Don't Do Everything, Do What Makes the Difference!
Every year around this time….. the birds are chirping, tulips are poppin… and suddenly… you can see everything winter left behind.
The clutter. The dust. The piles that somehow became permanent.
And if you have kids, coming out of sick season especially, your home can just feel a little off.
So instead of a full overhaul, I come back to the same simple reset every spring—one that makes our home feel lighter, calmer, and actually enjoyable to be in again.
My Go-To Spring Reset Routine
Start Outside (Fastest Way to Shift How Your Home Feels)
Power wash the front entry, patio, or walkway- a fresh restain does wonders.
Clean windows (even just the main ones)
Swap in a FRESH DOORMAT!
Don’t Skip or this will cost you!
Schedule HVAC service (furnace + AC) before summer
Sewer line clean-out (easy to forget, costly if you do)
Walk through your home and fix anything loose, squeaky, or slightly off
The Small Fixes That Quietly Elevate Everything
Touch up baseboards and door frames
Re-caulk around sinks, tubs, and backsplashes
Swap out burnt or mismatched light bulbs- SOFT WARM!
The “Mom Reset” (Post-Sick Season Clean)
Disinfect door knobs, light switches, and handles
Deep clean the coffee maker
Wash blankets, throws, and pillow covers
Clear out the clutter that built up over winter
Start compiling for the neighborhood garage sale
The 20% Rule
Remove about 20% of what’s sitting out—counters, shelves, surfaces. Everything instantly feels calmer, cleaner, and easier to live in.
Why This Works (Especially in Colorado)
Spring brings more natural light—and light highlights everything.
When your home is simplified, maintained, and lightly refreshed, it doesn’t just look better… it feels better.
And that feeling matters just like you! :)
THIS ISN'T A PRE LISTING CHECKLIST!
This list is a great starting point for a spring reset.
If you’re considering a move, there’s a more strategic layer to it—right down to specific paint choices and where to focus your effort.
If you want a look at that approach, I’m happy to share.
Need Trusted Local Vendors?
I’ve built a list of reliable Parker + Denver Metro vendors for everything on this list—window cleaning, HVAC, sprinklers, and more.
The kind of people who show up, do great work, and make this easier on the busy mom.
